Gears of War Movie Details from SDCC ‘09
News, Xbox 360 | Paul D. | July 26, 2009 at 3:56 amGears of War director Len Wiseman and writer Chris Morgan have appeared at the Gears of War panel during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with some more details of the movie.
All we can smell cooking is the rotting, burning corpse of "Doom"
Wiseman debunked rumours of The Rock playing Marcus Fenix, claiming that “a Doom connection would not be smart for us”. But he did give ideas about who he wants to play Maria Santiago, the wife of Dominic Santiago: Kate Beckinsale, with Wiseman believing he has “a shot” at getting her. The director also claimed that he’d love to see female COGs join the battle.
Writer Chris Morgan revealed that Emergence Day, the day when the Locust first attacked humanity, will feature:
“Emergence Day is making its way into the film. That will be big.”
Other than that, there’s no production stills, concept art or casting from the project yet. But writer Morgan did comment on the tone of the characters:
“Even though the world is literally at an end, [Delta Squad] still joke. They have real emotion and compassion.”
My money’s on Bill Murray for Marcus Fenix.

I agree, a CGI movie would be best. The only thing with a CGI movie is that if isn’t of the calibur of Final Fantasy Advent Children who would really care?
I agree guys. I think that both this game and Halo should be CGI, I would find it cheese if it was anything like Doom, plus I think it would be more epic to do Halo in a CGI form kind of like that of Advent Children. As far as a Gears movie go, I don’t see how that would be an epic movie nor how it would make a good movie in that case.
I knew they were gonna get Kate to play a latina, that would be interesting and hot at the same time!!
“Kate Beckinsale”? Are they serious? That obnoxious, malnourished, wannabe-Jolie was actually the worst actor in the Underworld flicks, and that includes the horrible CGI monsters.
Yeah, here’s an original idea – rather than a skinny, fish-belly white British chick to play the *Latina* role of “Maria”, why not like, you know, get a r-e-a-l Latina?! Eva Mendes, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Penelope Cruz, Rosario Dawson, Salma Hayak, Eva Longoria, etc. uhuh, guess there aren’t any *real* Latina actresses around, huh?
come on ppl less talk about this film being a downfall…im a gears fan and i know (im hoping) this film is not gonna be cheesey….its gonna be violent from start to finnish, a shit load of swearing and how can we forget the Lancer….So a big good luck and thank you to Len Wiseman, Chris Morgan and everyone else for making this movie happen.

In my opinion Gears of War would be great using real people. Yea sure u would have to find the right people but it would be awesome. I like the Gears series. I have played both games and read the books so i cant wait till the movie comes out. But the directors should really chose a better person for Maria. Any one else agree?
they should use real people and i am excited to see what the sniper riffle will look like. like the pic for dom, baird should be matt damon(baird seemed like a pretty boy cog). my pic for marcus would be shilo lebuf lol,just kidding. marcus would be leonidus from 300. the girl has to be latina so i would do michelle rodriguez.she is vin diesel’s girl in the fast and the furious trilogy. john leguizamo would play santiago.let me know what you think about my pics
i think that dwayne johnson would be a awesome idea.. seing in how he has taken on many diff roles sense doom, i dont think you would get the same performace from him that you got in the role of doom. you have to keep in mind that it was his second or third movie he was apart of and not that skilled yet at acting. but sense then he has taken on roles of the gameplan, race to witch mountain, rundown. and he tore each role up. come on now dwayne johnson would be perfect for this role of marcus fenix. if not him i would get mikey roucke. that bald guy from prison break in my mind is not an actor. i have not watched one episode becuase of him. he is mono toned and not that good. all the other actors look perfect for the roles.
oh and to all the idiots that said cgi would be the best. you can go ahead and shove that idea right up your arse. we had enough cgi in the game and im sure Len Wiseman will create a perfect movie. oh and please please please get kate and not just have her in 5 seconds of the movie. i think the movie is going to turn out great and i cant wait for it to be a box office hit to follow up with the gow 2 and chances of a third gow… thank you for making the movie guys. coming from a huge gears of war fan
please dont get shilo. i hate that guy as do alot of people. i think marcus should be dwayne johnson or gerad Butler or even mark walburg, cole should be played by ving raymes, baird would be played well with brad pitt or hugh jackman and dom non other then Karl Urban… what you think?
