The Wii and the DS are outright winners in Australia this week as they cover the whole of the Australian All Format Full Priced Games for the week ending 26th July.

Wii Sports Resort debuts at number one while Wii Play jumps up one to number two. Wii Fit drops down from the top spot to number three while Mario Kart Wii slips one to number four.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Wii) falls down to number eight while Super Smash Bros Brawl (Wii) re-enters at number nine.

The DS packed a punch by delivering Brain Training (at six), Ben Ten (at ten), Pokémon Platinum (at five) and Mario Kart DS (at seven).

Dropping out of the chart this week were The Sims 3 (PC, Last Week: 4), Infamous (PS3, LW: 6), Fight Night Round 4 for the PS3 (LW: 7) and Xbox 360 (LW: 10), Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force (DS, LW: 8 ) and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (PS2, LW: 9).

This takes Nintendo’s dominance of the country up a notch after covering half the chart last week.

That’s all fine and well, good on Nintendo for bringing gaming to the masses – but for the dedicated gamers out there (like myself, like the writers of this site and like the readers), we have still yet to see solid games being released for this console (and Wii Sports Results is not a solid game).

Exactly, just because they own everyone on the charts doesn’t make them a good system for gamers.

Wii Sports Resort is some of the best fun I’ve had all year. Have you even tried it mate? Nintendo has PLENTY of solid games for their platform. It just so happens that most don’t appeal to us. Doesn’t mean the quality is suspect, just the concept.

No real games? So you’ve all played through Fire Emblem, House of the Dead, Conduit, Metroid Prime 3, Little Kings Story, Super Paper Mario, multiple Resident Evils, Guitar Hero 3&4, Pikmin Npc, Super Mario Galaxy, Disaster, Brawl, No More Heroes, both Trauma Centres, Zack & Wiki have you?
