Sega have announced ‘Sonic & Knuckles’ is to be released on XBLA on 09/09/09 and will feature the ‘Lock-on’ capability.
The game was notably not included in ‘Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection’ when it was released earlier this year, which caused some furore amongst expectant fans. Now Sega has rectified the situation… kind of. To take advantage of the of the ‘Lock-on’ feature, you will of course need to also own Sonic 1/2/3. A quick calculation shows that to experience it all will cost you $20, pretty steep considering you can probably pick up ‘Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection’ for the same price.
And, the release date is important for any hardcore Sega fan. It marks the 10th birthday of the Sega Dreamcast! Hurrah! Hopefully we’ll see Sega celebrate the the milestone in some other way as well.

nice little tweek for fans out there. Personally I own a copies of the originals and the gamecube Sonic collection which obviously contain this feature anyway. A great way to enjoy the games on the Wii should they want to.
Can Sega also put Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 on XBLA? That would be most welcome.
