While I’m not sure how I missed this until now, I still turned into a five year old in a candy shop when I realized what I had found. LucasArts has re-released the “Dark Forces” Series onto Steam. Not only does this include the original Dark Forces, but also all of the Jedi series as well. This gives anyone the opportunity to play through these classic games, albeit in their classic format as well. While all four games are available for the low, low, low, low (low?), low price of 20 bucks, be prepared to deal with the problems of graphical shiny-ness, on games that weren’t really made for them. Head over to the Steam forums and check to see if your specific system may have a problem. As a quick heads up, if you’re still on XP, you’re most likely fine. If you’re on Vista…you get the idea. That being said, even most Vista users had found a way to get around the hardware/software limitations and get the games up and running.
The screenshot posted is from one of the best in the series, the Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight game. For a more…”updated” game experience, check out Jedi Outcast. The story/gameplay/cinematics(FMV!) are all top notch in both of these games, and should provide for the best experience.
Now…when will they re-release X-Wing Alliance…
