The producer of the Gears of War movie (Godfrey) was interviewed and gave a little information about how the movie will be portrayed. According to Godfrey the story will be about emergence day and how people were able to survive the ensuing 48 hours. Godfrey said that he wanted to focus on the world as one that was working well, then emergence day happens. This is a little off from the main story, if you looked hard enough to find it, but it really shouldn’t matter. At least according to Cliffy B. who really just wants things bigger and more badass.

Video games gone movie always frighten me. They either try to hard or not enough and screw up some important part. We as gamers grow attach to the characters from us playing them and we become more immersed into their lives.
Removing us from that point of view and tossing us into the sidelines as we watch our character on the big screen just seems like a bad transition every time it happens.
I’m actually stoked for this movie. I think as long as the actors and script are good, then we will actually see a good movie game. Because really, can anyone tell me more about the story of the game then that there are bad guys coming up from the ground and it is your god given mission to chainsaw the gibs out of all of them?

Great news. Focusing on emergence day will give viewers ((especially those unfamiliar with gow)) an intro to the world of Sera prior to Locust invasion. The decades of war leading up to that plus the premise of “destroyed beauty” hinges on those events.
Marcus and Dom will be a hell of alot younger than portrayed in the game. I doubt any sequel will take place 14 years after Eday. Some creative freedom is allowed.
Maybe we’ll see Cole playing thrashball.=-)
Long as they get a good script , good actors , and a director who can capture the feel of GOW while maintaining its badassery should be headed in the right direction..but ..who knows its hollywood and a video game movie…

sounds like they are gonna murder the making of GoW into a movie, and sounds like they dont have a clue about GoW either thats all GoW is , War cant make it anything else and expect it to be good…
