With the premiere of Professor Layton & The Devils Flute launchin Japan recently, Level-5 have announced the second game in the second trilogy of games: Professor Layton & The Mask of Miracles.

Known details about the upcoming puzzler so far include:

- Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles takes place in online casino City, which was created by the magic power of the mask
- Is the same mask worn by Death Call in Devil’s Flute
- The mask has the power to grant wishes, but has also been linked to various mysterious incidents
- “The truth is hidden deep within the mask”
- Series mechanics are set for a major change with Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles
- Due out Fall 2010

Factor-5 also spoke briefly about the possibility of more Professor Layton movies, stating they were looking into the possibility and if it happened it would be set after the Mask of Miracles. They also announced the Professor Layton series has now sold 7.9 million units worldwide.The teaser site for ‘Mask of Miracles’ is available here.

We in the west however have just received the 2nd installment in the 1st trilogy. Let’s hope Nintendo kicks its’ translator’s asses into gear, otherwise at this rate the DS will be obsolete by the time we’re due this one.
