htf_titleThe Happy Tree Friends are at it again with their new app, Happy Tree Friends: Slap Happy. This game puts a HTF character in your hands, literally, to do with whatever destruction you want to place on it. They’re allowing you to inflict pain in the worst way possible with a few options listed in the menu bar. I found that this was a really good stress reliever to where you can just destroy this character by just a shake of the iPhone or a flick of your finger.

htf_1You meet your victim once you load up the app and as it smiles back at you, you have the opportunity to look at the different devices you can use on it. With gleaming eyes full of terror and a flick of the finger, you can slap the crap out of your victim. Shake your iPhone a bit to further beat up the character. If you feel like finishing it off, then resort to one of the devices in the top right menu. Once you kill the bunny, resurrect it with a shock or CPR, depending on how it eventually met its demise. I found myself shaking my iPhone just to see how long it would take to completely destroy it. It took like 6 shakes and me looking like a mad woman at work as I shook my iPhone. I had to later explain what I was doing and then further explain why I was doing it.

htf_2The graphics stayed true to the animated short series and stayed with the blood and gore, but I felt that it was too short. I wanted another character and some more weapons options. I felt pretty limited in what I could do to the character and ran out of options within a few minutes. Maybe offer some dismemberment? I know that sounds pretty bad, but I mean if you are going to beat the crap out of something with the intent of overall destruction, I would expect to completely annihilate it with options. When I used to see the episodes, I knew that the characters were placed in situations where they were in so much pain and peril that they eventually die from their wounds or some random Final Destination ending.

I might be a little desensitized but I loved that animated short and enjoyed this app. Some of the episodes were sometimes painful to watch but they were funny. This app was definitely funny but it ran out of options way too quickly. I hope this will have more updates to where it adds more weapons. It’s currently available on iTunes for $.99.
