The news stories from IGN suggest that Nintendo is currently making a new DS system that will have high definition screens. In addition to having HD screens it has also been hinted at by Iwata that there will be player sensors on the device as well. It already has been around six years since the DS was first released, and since many devices only last for about that long before a successor is made. Thus it is likely that Nintendo will release a new DS this year, or at the least reveal more information come E3.
Seeing that there is no confirmed information on the subject the best assumption for the size of the HD screens is 480p. (I highly doubt that you will see an inexpensive DS system with two 1080p or 720p screens, and Nintendo has always won the hand-held race by keeping the tech simple, but innovative.) As for the player sensing one’s best guess would be a camera since they just added two of them to the DS.
What do you think? Is it about time for Nintendo to make a new system? If so what should be on it and why?
