Fun while it lasted…bring on reach!!
You didn’t mention firefight. I think firefight contributes to logevity. I am a Halo fan but I never purchased the extra maps mostly because I don’t even have Live Gold right now. Also I played through the single player of Halo3:ODST at around 8 hours the first time probably because I was doing a lot of exploring and moving carefully instead of just blazing through it bvecause you know where everything is and are used to using the map.
I only payed $40 (net) because I bought it at Toys R Us and they were offering a $20 Gift card and a crappy action figure(which I have no use for). I only payed $40 for COD:MW2 because AMAZON WAS OFFERING $20 IN CREDIT. MW2 also has a pretty short campaign. I spent the $20 credit on Assassin’s Creed 2 and found a $5 off coupon code so I got that game for $35 shipped. I just bought Bayonetta and Darksiders at Toys R Us and got a $40 gift card. I bought several of the “new” games this last holiday season on Buy2 get 1 free offers. I have Mass Effect 2 preordered at Amazon for $36. ‘Left 4 Dead 2′ had a common street price of $40 in most stores through out the holiday. Just because somethign has a $60 sticker on it doesn’t mean that you’ll be paying $60.
According to Gamepro Capcom’s new ‘Dark Void’ release is only six hours long. A lot of games have minimal single player campaigns or worse are just multiplayer games that have some bots for their single player experience.
Soto sum up, I think that maybe there was a just a tad too much drama in the 6/10 review because:
You didn’t discuss all the features. You suggest that the game is short but you go from s-7 hours to 4 at one point. Which is it? What difficluty did you play at?
You mention wallet rape but there were some pretty easy ways around that like coupons and deals.
It’s no longer really an uncommon practice to charge $60 for a short game anyway.
lets see.
5 hour campaign.
same maps as halo 3 bar a few.
$100 price tag for a expansion pack.
repetitive missions.
boring story.
missing the games protagonist.
i mean seriously imagine god of war without kratos or resistance without nathan or mario brothers without mario.
yea i think that answers the question.
only M$ can get away with charging 100 bucks for a 5 hour expansion pack.
killzone 2, COD MW2 halo 3 and halo 3 ODST have to be the most over hyped, over rated games in existence!
Biggest pile of fucking crap ever. Only cunts bought and played this game which is just a Halo3 add-on.
M$ have spent the money on whores, drugs, guns and killing nigger kids.
It’s your fault you useless cunts.
I didn’t buy the useless piece of crap so can say what i like unlike you cunts who bought it and moaned about it when it was going to be crap anyway.
100 bucks? where did you buy this dude you got ripped.
I reckon that must be 100 Australian Dollars or something. Games go as high as AU$105 over there. It’s still a rip off though. That’s the equivalent of US$90. You can’t blame people for that though, it’s regional pricing.
No reference to the Complete Multiplayer Experience or Firefight?
Anyone thought about difficulty levels? The game on legendary is obviously gonna take you longer to beat than easy. I do agree ODST has its weak points like firefight. Something none of the diehard Halo 3 multiplayer fans were expecting to get. But it’s a thematic game, like a playalong movie instead of a leveled out standard FPS
experience. Overall not worth the money, worth the maps because i never bought the multiplayer maps for Halo 3 _Xbox Live Gtag drummerboi420
I wasn’t disappointed at all with ODST. It was a lot of fun for any Halo fan and i think they got rid of the “expansion pack” expectation well. Sure it wasn’t a complete package, but that’s why it shipped with two discs and some great extras.
What’s funny to me is that it took me just over six hours to run through the campaign on normal. In MW2 however, it took me just under 4, yet none of the reviews I’ve read have even brought this up.
All told, a nice stop-gap between Halo 3 and Reach that was well worth the price tag.
What a bunch of QQ. I’ve had so many fun hours of firefight with friends. Why not complain about all the other tons of crap out there for 60$?
Sure the game was short, but it was polished. I enjoyed the whole 5 hour campaign.
Sure it might have been overpriced for what it was, but that $60 was better spent on ODST then many other titles in my library.
Also, I agree 100% with Will.
Every Halo game is a disappointment, at least to those of us who remember when molasses movement, horrendous sound design and utterly incomprehensible, pretentious storytelling weren’t considered the marks of greatness.
I don’t understand you guys, ODST firefight was easily the best thing in the halo series since the first game. And ODST was cheaper than Halo 3 was on release. Bargin.
It’s not a 4 hour campaign. I’d like to see someone do this game in 4 hours. You could do it in 6 hours if you played it on Normal. Play it on Heroic or Legendary and you’re easily into a 10 hour campaign.
It took you 4 months to write a review of a 5 hour game?
darksydephil from youtube rated this game 6.5 and said it was bullshit.
5 hours is if you rush through the thing going as fast as you can on a low or medium difficulty. Enjoying the side story, picking up the extra weapons from the Superintendent, and pacing yourself to view the city and enjoy the music is what makes the game long and fun. If you want to run and gun through this game, I think you have approached it from the wrong point of view. Also, you should mention hours and hours of fun playing firefight with friends and also, getting the entire multiplayer experience is a real value if you don’t have Halo 3.
Also, if the higher price tag helped fund Reach, then not a bad deal either.
People complain about it just because it has the Halo name. People hate on popular items because it is the cool thing to do.
If someone made a review of one of the craptastic Wii games out there, no one even notice…it’s expected.

It was a fine halo game, to me I took longer to beat on legendary then it took to be MW2 on hardcore. Plus I don’t play games purely to kill or waste hours of my life, I play for the good gameplay and it still had that great halo feel.
This video could have been 2 minutes long. I don’t even care about what you have to say in the video anymore, watching it just made me angry. Make your point, make a joke, and then end the fucking video. There are periods of 30 seconds where there isn’t even a voice over explaining things. It’s painful to watch, and was a total waste of my time.
Also, the game came out a looooong time ago. You’re a bit late to board the “hate on ODST” train. It’s been done.
The very beginning where you’re replying to what the developers are saying is HILARIOUS!!!!! =D
6/10 is a pretty fair rating.
if you beat this in five hours. you played on easy, which means your opinion of games means nothing to me. I thought the game was fun, firefight was brilliant, and it unlocked recon for me.
I kinda liked it. By the way: Your muzzle flash animation doesn’t match the machine gun sounds. Sorry put who is picky about Halo must take critique regarding his video
The game originally was going to be an expansion pack, but grew larger through the creative vision of the team. Was the game disappointing? No. Was the game everything we expected. No. The game told a interesting story, that was never explored in any of the books or games themselves. Sure for 60-70 dollars its expensive. I myself have only finished the campaign and played some firefight. I plan on going back to it, to finish it legendary co-op with my friends. All of the arguments saying it was expensive for only a single player game, but one could make the same argument about the original Bioshock. There was no multiplayer and no reason to play the game after beating the campaign. In conclusion, games will not please everyone, so play games you like and please don’t bash ones you don’t.
first time viewer here and thought you made a good video if a little silly but funny. I like the ending with the rating going up. Anyway i feel the exact same way about these new games. $60 is bogus for a 4-6 hour game. MW2 is the perfect example of this because previous games offered more content and more features and yet they feel its worth the $60. Well I am glad they didn’t get my money and probably never will for that. I am one of those bargain gamers who buys a game when its on sale. if mw2 was $29.99 i might get it but seeing how they have insulted all the PC fans with 18 player max and the inability to create your levels i don’t think i will get it all. Modern warfare is plenty fun as it is. not any worse than mw2 thats for sure.
Gamers need to start rejecting the $60 price and wait for sales. If all those kids and gamers keep buying games at $60 how long till they hike it to $70 and a 2 hour campaign?
i work at gamestop…i only payed $20
It’s as simple as this… if you’re a Halo fan, ODST meant everything to you when it came out. A new campaign, firefight, 3 new multiplayer maps, halo: reach beta invite, Sgt. Johnson… WTF? Is that not satisfactory for YOU? If you can’t have respect for the gracious gift that Bungie delivered to us then you obviously need to find another game. It’s worth $60 bucks. If you’re a true Halo fan, you don’t give a shit what new content you get as long as it’s new content. Suck Bungie’s balls.
I really enjoyed the campaign. It was fun to play in coop with a friend and we loved that the dialog was by in large performed by the cast of Firefly.
Firefight was a lot of fun. Even though we only played 3-4 of the firefight maps, we got a good 30-40 hours of gameplay out of it. The only reason we’re not still playing it is because of the wealth of late 2009 games (Left4Dead and Borderlands are of note).
I was disappointed in the campaign, it was short and it really felt like I was just walking around with the occasional firefight compared to Halo 1-3 where firefights were everywhere.
As for the feeling of getting ripped off, I don’t really feel like I got ripped off because I only had like 1 additional Halo 3 map so $60 for a short campaign and all the multiplayer maps, plus firefight which I’m still having fun with wasn’t too bad for me.
With that said, I woulda been a ticked had I gone out and bought all the Halo 3 maps before ODST and then paid $60 for the discs.
I think Bungie and Microsoft should’ve sold 2 different versions. One with the multiplayer disc, and one without for maybe a $60/$30 split, heck maybe even sell the first disc as DLC.
Can’t wait for your next vid about Modern Warfare 2 being a disappointment because of its short length. But we probably won’t see that, will we?
I got it for the equilvent of $40 at launch and while the campaign was short I didn’t particulary feel ripped off by that Bungie were pretty straightforward in saying this wasn’t a full on game. MW2 campaign was a similar length which felt more weird.
I take it you don’t do multiplayer so I won’t go on about Firefight/Co-op etc… I can see how the package would feel undervalued if your not going to use that content (same with MW2 tbh).
I knew what to expect from ODST. So i waited for it to drop in price, and im glad i did. I argee if you play through on legendery then it makes the campaign last around 7 to 8 hours. Also if your a cheevo junkie like myself you will play through at least twice to gain the good/bad samaritan cheevos. And you cant leave out firefight, this mode alone i feel was worth the 20 quid i spent on the game. fun in its basic way.
Bring on reach…
I played the campaign 20 times with friends, a lot of fire fight, with the new maps i sold my old halo, and soon i will play the reach beta. it was worth it to me.
