Kakuro Mania is a collection of puzzles to which you can put your math and logic skills to the test. If you have played Sudoku and enjoyed it, then this is definitely an app you should try. A kakuro is a logic puzzle that is seen as the mathematical equivalent of a crossword puzzle. It has the same basic layout as a crossword but instead of inputting words, you use numbers and addition to find their particular sequence. So if you have 4 boxes that are equal to 11, you have to figure out what can equal it without repeating any numbers and what can help you with the other corresponding numbers.
I have concluded that I am a bit addicted to this app and liked that it automatically saved my progress. I have been trying to beat my time but can not seem to get above easy or below 60 seconds. I need to work on my math skills for sure. This game was really helpful, because it had options to check your errors and if you simply gave up, you could reveal the entire puzzle. I think I revealed it twice just because I wanted to see what I was missing. It was nice being able to see what errors I had made without it giving you the answers. If you clicked on the number, it would suggest a sequence, or hint to which numbers was equal to the total number. The number would turn red if the sequence did not add up to the total amount. I didn’t like the pencil mode because I didn’t find it very useful. It just reminded me of another crossword app that I have.
The graphics of this app were basic and clean, and simply got the job done. I liked the simplicity of it, because I was able to concentrate completely on the puzzle itself. You could customize your puzzle by changing the size of the puzzles where you had a choice of 6 sizes and upping the skill level to either of the 4 difficulty levels.
I liked this app and plan to play it continuously throughout my work day. It not only helps pass the time but exercises my logic and math skills. If you like crosswords, Sudoku or both, then this is an app you should definitely try out.
