Developed by Mongoose DevWorks, Balloon in a Box is a timed puzzle game where your job is to guide a balloon through a maze to get to the finish line, which is indicated as a checkered flag. The game has two modes to choose from and three difficulty levels to master. It allows you to challenge yourself and others to get a balloon through a maze without popping it and within a short amount of time. With this game, you are in competition mostly with yourself as you climb the high score board.

Yes, moving through mazes with a balloon sounds easy but it definitely fooled me. I was driving myself crazy when I would move my wrist slightly and the balloon would go down a completely different area. The game utilizes the accelerometer so each tilt results in a particular movement and is seen as being easily controlled. However, you have to be careful with slight movements or else the balloon will go in a completely different direction than what you had intended.

You have a choice of picking a ‘Maze’ or ‘Box’ mode where you’d either be casually guiding the balloon through randomly selected mazes or be challenged with obstacles, 10 unique levels and three levels of difficulty. While the Maze mode was more for the casual player, The Box mode was made for competitive minds alike. You could challenge yourself on the easy mode and beat that to unlock the higher levels of difficulty. Each level becomes trickier as it adds obstacles such as fans, nails and darts.

The graphics of the game are clean and neat, and the music works to get the intensity level up. I thought the idea of the game was presented fairly well and was actually a fun game to play. Overall, the Balloon in a Box idea kind of tired me out but I still wanted to play. Frustrated and anxious, I started the game over and over so I could attempt to defeat my previous times. I would suggest playing this if you want a casual maze game or highly competitive, because it appeals to both types of gamers.
