A recruitment website has spilled details that seem to confirm a PC version of Fable III existing, including info on possible cross-compatability with the Xbox 360 version.
UPDATE: The title of the job has since been changed to ‘Network Programmer – Unannounced Project’, which would suggest that someone found the info important enough to edit after seeing this article. Thankfully, we think ahead – picture below the text.
UPDATE 12/03: Peter Molyneux has since said at a GDC Q&A: “I love what’s happening to the PC, and I would love to see the Fable franchise on the PC.” Source is Joystiq.
We found a job advert titled ‘Network Programmer – Fable III Project’ on UK recruitment website gamesrecruit which reads:
“The role involves converting and maintaining the network code of the Xbox 360 version of Fable III to the PC, and enabling the Xbox 360 version and the PC version to play together. ”
The main duties of the job are listed as:
“-Take an existing console codebase and make it run well on a PC.
- Help architect and design any PC-specific features.
- Convert the existing networking system over to Windows based libraries.
- Work with the PC and 360 codebase to ensure the PC and the Xbox 360 builds can interoperate.”
The job listing was posted on the 17th February 2010.
It’s currently on Lionhead’s website too, but instead describes that the position ”involves developing and maintaining the network code of an unnanounced title”.
The juicy details from the gamesrecruit job posting are also missing. Either their listing is a mistake or it’s actually happening. We reckon it’s the latter…
UPDATE:
It may have been a mistake, but we still remain optimistic on this one.

360 has no exclusives.
Rather no exclusives, than no games like the PS3
@ DoNotWant – Except for the massive lot of exclusives it had in 2006, 2007, 2008, and will have in 2010. Just because it had less exclusives in 2009 than in previous years doesn’t mean the console has no exclusives in general. A lot of them are also on PC nowadays (or PS3 in some cases), but a lot of PS3 exclusives are now on 360, so it balances out (and unless you’re a PC gamer, those games on Xbox and PC only are still exclusive to the 360 on the console market)
@ DoWant – Sony is terribly sorry that it only has virtually every third-party game that’s on 360 right now, as well as a plethora of exclusive titles. Perhaps the PS3 could have more games if it didn’t release one year after the 360 released. Seriously, you could’ve made this comment three years ago when the PS3 first came out (although I don’t know how you’d expect the PS3 to have every game it has now by the end of one year), but it doesn’t apply nowadays. Besides, the 360 didn’t have a lot of games in the beginning either
