  • Ski Jump 2010 iPhone Review
Ski Jump 2010 is exactly as it sounds: ski jumping. It’s a rather simple iPhone game, to say the least, and there’s not really much to compliment or criticize about it. Essentially, you have to tap the screen at the right time to make your ski jumper do the best jump (there’s also options for tilt controls, but they work horribly from what I can tell)....

  • Bioshock 2 Review
The original Bioshock was one of the best games of the last decade. Sure, it looked fantastic and had gameplay that was as well executed as it was unique, but it was the immersive setting and exceptional story that made the game not only stand out from the crowd, but a truly memorable title. So naturally, any developer who was tasked to work on the inevitable sequel and...

  • Mass Effect 2 Review
In the two weeks since Mass Effect 2 released, I have been attempting to write this review.  The main problem: I don’t know where to start.  If you’ve read some of my other reviews, you might infer that I’d start with some witty opening, or an anecdote about how much I loved the original Mass Effect, or how much I respect Bioware as a developer, but that would...

  • First trailer for Fallout: New Vegas released
Back in April of 2009, Bethesda announced that there would be a new Fallout game releasing in 2010 called Fallout: New Vegas.  However, it would be developed by Obsidian Entertainment.  Obsidian is no stranger to the Fallout series though, as it was founded by members of the now defunct Black Isle Studios that developed Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.  While the game was...

  • God of War Collection Review
While I didn’t buy a PS2 until recently, it’s not exactly something I regret that much.  Don’t get me wrong, the PS2 had a lot of great exclusive games but it’s not like anyone is going to buy every single one just to say that they own them all. Instead, they’re going to buy the ones that they’re interested in.  And out of all the exclusives that I would...

  • Top 10 Favorite Games of the Last Decade
As 2009 comes to a close and 2010 is just days away, I decided to look back on the last decade (2000-2009). It was through this period of reflection that I realize that this is the decade when I really defined myself as a gamer. Sure, I played video games before then, but these last ten years are when I became a hardcore gamer that saw video gaming as more than a hobby....

  • Doom Classic Review
What can you say about Doom?  Frankly, quite a lot. Among other things, this is the game that popularized the FPS genre and without it, it’s possible that franchises like Call of Duty, Halo, Killzone, and many other massive FPS franchises would be nowhere near as popular as they are today. Or rather, the FPS genre wouldn’t be so mainstream if not for Doom....

  • Borderlands Review
Of all the games that I’ve ever bought, Borderlands is the one that I’ve probably been the most on the fence about. When I originally saw it in my September 2007 issue of Game Informer, it looked pretty cool: four player co-op in a massive open world, a pretty cool story, and half a millions guns. While I sort of forgot about it in the sea of good holiday...

  • Assassin’s Creed II Review
While I enjoyed the first Assassin’s Creed (I gave it a 9/10 in my review of the game), I, along with many other fans and critics, agreed that there was quite a lot that Ubisoft needed to improve on for the expected sequel and thus, the original game was greeted with mixed reviews. Well, Ubisoft decided not just to make a few improvements here and there for the...

  • The Ballad of Gay Tony Review
While Grand Theft Auto IV wasn’t my choice for game of the year for 2008, it was definitely number 2 in my book.  With its fantastic story, exceptional open world, tight gameplay, loads of features, and endless replayability, it was definitely one of the best games of 2008, perhaps even all time. Rockstar, however, continued the GTA IV experience exclusively on the...
