Square Enix’s recent installment of the Final Fantasy series has shipped over 5 million copies around the world after being released only a day. The company credited the extra boost from the initial shipment of 3 million units in Europe and 2 in North America. Sony Japan sold an additional amount of copies even after the game had already been released there over 6 months ago.
Square Enix did not provide any details upon the independent sales data, therefor it is not possible to compare the number of copies sold between the 360 and the Playstation 3. However, Yoichi Wada’s hopes for the game is to top the sales of the previously released FF XII, which would have to dish out another 6 million units. We’ll be sure to keep you up the date as more numbers become available.
