Seems Disney is on a shopping spree. It has been announced that Disney has reached an agreement to purchase developer Wideload Games Inc.
The studio is notable for being founded by Halo series creator Alex Seropian. Mr. Seropian will assume the newly created position of ‘Vice President of Creative’ which will involve over seeing the development of Disney’s video game portfolio. Given Disney’s other recent acquirement of Marvel, it’s now possible to envison a a Disney/Marvel crossover game developed by the Halo series creator. “Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday it has reached a deal to acquire video game manufacturer Wideload Games Inc., the creator of the Halo science-fiction franchise for Microsoft’s Xbox. Financial terms were not disclosed. Wideload founder and chief executive Alexander Seropian will join Disney Interactive Studios in the newly created role of vice president of creative, Disney said. In that capacity, Seropian will oversee creative development across Disney Interactive’s video game portfolio.” – Marketwatch
