Lucasarts, while waxing lyrical about the wonders of digital content and DLC, have revealed that any plans to release more classics could depend upon the success of Monkey Island.
Speaking at the Develop conference in this interview, David Nottingham – project lead at LucasArts – said:
“…we’re excited about Monkey, we’ve got high expectations and hope it does really well. If that’s the case it opens up all sorts of opportunities – so we’ve definitely got other stuff planned, but we’re not at the point yet where we can talk about it.
“All I can say is that it’s really exciting – I’m excited about what we’re doing.”
This adds up with his earlier comments in the interview. He told of how the online format ” made the risk of re-introducing this IP for us way more attractive” and that it “made sense” to go with this format to appease their “rabid fanbase that’s online”.
Did you hear that LucasArts fans? You’re infected with rabies. Go see Dr. Marquis De Singe. He probably won’t be interested in anything other than your hands though…
