The Playstation 3 has been sold 800,000 times in the UK since July 2009, meaning that the console has broken three million sales in the country.

While it’s a massive jump up for Sony’s multi-purpose machine, the Xbox 360 had sold 3.9 million units in the UK as of last July; while the Wii topped six million in early December.

From a global perspective, the PS3 has sold just over 27 million. Meanwhile Microsoft claimed at the most recent CES that their concave console had hit 39 million worldwide, while the Wii is at a massive 56+ million.

So while those George Foreman grill jokes have dried up, Sony will be far from thirsty after this showing.
